This is the UK’s second most common breeding bird. It is also the most colourful of the finches. The Chaffinch is the earliest recorded bird dating back to 685 AD.
A member of the Tit family, which is a less frequent garden visitor than Blue Tits and Great Tits. It is most at home among conifer trees.
This is the largest of the bunting family. Often seen sitting on a post, wire or hedge tops. Prefers to be on and around farmland during the summer months and in the winter months they form flocks and gather on weedy ground stubbly fields and farmyards.
Once known as the Hedge Sparrow. This small brown bird is most often seen shuffling along hedgerows and hedge bottoms.
These birds visit Britain and Ireland in the winter. If the winter is very harsh you may find that the fieldfare will visit your garden. They are members of the Thrush family.
