Sparrow Nest Box

This wooden Sparrow Nest Box has been designed with a 32mm hole ideal for Tree Sparrow, House Sparrow, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Marsh Tit, Nuthatch, Pied Flycatcher and other small birds. Locally made in Lincolnshire with FSC timber and felt roof and eco friendly preservative. This Nest Box was built based on BTO guidelines. The hinged roof enables easy inspection and cleaning. All wooden nest boxes are treated with a light oak preservative.

House Sparrow

The House Sparrow deserves its name as it often nests in buildings. These habits and the ability to exploit a wide variety of foods have resulted in the worldwide spread of the species. However the lack of holes in buildings for nesting and poor availability of insects on which they feed their young has resulted in a declining population in some areas of the UK.

Marsh Tit

A less common member of the tit family that has seen a sharp decline in recent years. They can often be found clinging to the peanut feeder in the garden. Will nest in nest boxes if they are near to woodland, this being their natural habitat. These birds are territorial and stay with their young in the same vicinity.

Nuthatch

The Nuthatch is a woodland bird that can be seen clinging to mature tree trunks. They have a cheerful loud call. They are unusual in the fact that they can move up or down a tree trunk while woodpeckers and tree creepers can only move up trees.
