Sunflower Heart Chips

A popular addition to our sunflower seed bird food range, these broken pieces of sunflower heart seeds are oil rich and nutritious just like our sunflower hearts. These handy bite sized pieces often leave even less waste behind than sunflower hearts bird seed.

Sunflower heart chips are suitable for seed feeders, bird tables and ground feeder. Please note that if used on its own this product can stick in feeders in very damp conditions.

Great Tit

Robin

These brightly coloured small birds commonly found in many gardens and are one of Britain's favourite birds. The robin will take the juicy insects and worms as quickly as they appear. They are territorial and very aggressive in nature and have a ferocious appetite. Their brightly coloured red breast is their most attractive feature and for this reason the robin is seen on Christmas cards.

Song Thrush

The Song Thrush as its name suggests has a beautiful flute-like song in which it repeats phrases (distinguishing it from the song of the blackbird). This song can be heard from as early as January and each individual can have a repertoire of around a hundred phrases.

Starling

The Starling is a gregarious and noisy bird with a talent for mimicry. They walk and run very hurriedly on the ground. They are still one of the commonest garden birds in the UK.

Blue Tit

This delightful and entertaining small bird is a frequent visitor to garden bird feeders and tables, performing skilful acrobatics to obtain a meal of peanuts or fat. They are thought to be intelligent as they will investigate new sources of food such as stealing the top of the milk learn from each other and use great dexterity of beak and foot. They are easily recognised by their blue cap and wings, white cheeks and yellow body.

Chaffinch

This is the UK's second most common breeding bird. It is also the most colourful of the finches. The Chaffinch is the earliest recorded bird dating back to 685 AD.

Goldfinch

Goldfinches are usually seen in groups as they flitter from garden to garden in their search for food. Once they have found food they are very protective of that area. They sometimes get into fights amongst themselves when in the breeding season.

Great-spotted Woodpecker

The woodpecker is now becoming increasingly visible in the gardens of houses with large trees in which they can create their nesting sites and the easy accessibility to free food being put out by people. The male bird is renowned for the noise he makes when making holes in either trees or dead wood.

Greenfinch

Similar in size to a House Sparrow, the Greenfinch is a chunky-looking finch. The male Greenfinch is known for its olive-green back and bright yellow patches in its wings and tail. The female is duller with streaky upperparts. Juvenile Greenfinches are similar to the female but browner.

Siskin

The Siskin has spread its range considerably in the last few decades. Once seen only in the conifer plantations of Scotland, this agile finch has become a frequent visitor to winter gardens where they enjoy catkins. Their chattering call can be heard when in groups and the song is a high trill descending to a low buzz.
