Ideally placed in a sheltered space, facing between north and south-east to keep out harsh weather. The Shesali has an oval shape which offers a medium-sized cavity perfect for species of small garden birds who roost alone, or as a pair, offering a cosy place to roost during harsh winter months. In springtime, small birds may also use this product as a nest. A unique Fair Trade product as each artisan chooses a colourful recycled sari pattern to make every nester different.
What direction should a blue tit log nest box face?
The main consideration needs to be that the Blue tit log nest box does not get direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day - so never put the nest box facing south. The ideal aspect is facing east or north east, as this allows some direct sunlight first thing in the morning but largely shade after that. West facing should also be avoided as much of the rain we get in the British Isles comes in on a westerly wind, which therefore can blow into the nest hole.
How high should natural log blue tit nesting boxes be?
The ideal height for a natural Blue tit nesting box to be positioned is about 2 metres from the ground.
