Description

The Nuttery Caged Suet Block and Fat Ball Feeder allows small birds to get to the food but keeps larger birds out. The feeder will hold up to six fat balls, and including our Super Suet Fat Balls, or a single suet block.

Small birds such as Blue tits, Great tits and Robins will easily be able to enter though the cage of the Nuttery heavy duty suet block feeder to get to the nutritious product inside, but larger birds such as Starlings and Jackdaws will not be able to.

The Nuttery caged suet ball feeder will also stop Grey squirrels from getting to the food, plus the heavy gauge of the tough metal cage will prevent them from damaging it.

Seems sturdy , easy to fill and like that inner compartment can be removed to clean. Successfully keeping the crows out so small birds get a chance.

A very good feeder, sturdy and well made. The birds came to it straight away and it has thwarted the squirrels. Excellent service from Vine House Farm, very well packaged with recycled environmentally friendly materials.

Squirrels have been a real problem with our feeders. They have eaten through everything. This seems to have beaten them. Took the birds a few days to get used to them. Now very confident and the long-tailed tits have come back

An excellent feeder which is genuinely squirrel proof, unlike the previous one we had which we had sourced from elsewhere. Easy to fill and a joy to watch the birds using it.

It’s well made but the birds are still getting used to it & haven’t fed from it yet (it has only been up a week). At least it is deterring the magpies & squirrels.

Well made, attractive feeder. Only just put out in my garden so birds are a bit wary as they can be with new feeders. Looks like it will be easy to clean. Delivered promptly, well packaged.

Prompt delivery and a feeder that really does annoy the pesky squirrels! Jays and woodpeckers can feed from it as well as the smaller birds. BUT NOT SQUIRRELS!!!

I am using it inside another guard to keep the magpies out as they destroy a block in about half an hour and the little birds don't get a look in. The birds have worked out the plethora of bits of metal after a week and are using it like this just fine. It isn't looking like it's going to be that easy to clean but I don't find that fat block feeders get quite as dirty as normal seed feeders anyway.

I recv'd. the above per order no. 1261706 via prompt & efficient delivery - thank you - and the birds are beginning to get used to it. It's a well made feeder but in my opinion, has a design fault, in that the inner suet ball cage is not secured in any way to the outer cage, allowing it to slide around as the wind / birds move the feeder and ends up resting against the inside of the outer cage, where the bigger birds - magpies etc. - can easily reach the suet balls. I've secured the inner cage centrally to the base of the outer cage with a couple of lengths of galvanised garden wire, which seems to have done the trick. Regards Richard Brittlebank

Starlings not keen so keeps them from hogging all the fat balls which is what I hoped for. Sparrows have worked it out but blue tits are still a bit warey of it. No doubt it will be more appealing when the fat balls defrost a bit!! Would recommend.

Nice to find a bird feeder that the squirrels can't get into. I think the suet blocks are easier for the birds to get to the food, rather than the fat balls.

This is an excellent product if you want to feed fat balls to small garden birds in a container that the larger birds, like crows and jackdaws, can't access. It works for this perfectly and is well made and looks attractive too.

It's wonderful. The feeder is attractive, surprisingly compact and it works. The small birds can get at the suet slabs but the larger ones and the squirrels can't. Previously the slabs only lasted a couple of days and the smaller birds were being bullied away. We now put food for the bullies on a tray but can control how much we provide for them whilst still making sure the fat slabs are available for the tinies. I was also very impressed with Vine House Farm's service. Good communications and fast delivery.

excellent, sparrows and starlings are feeding from it. No Corvid, but also no tits. I wonder, are they afraid to go in there, as they feel vulnerable inside? Starlings and house sparrows can reach the suet block without going inside, therefore smaller birds, who have to go inside in order to feed face the risk of encountering their beaks.

Sturdily built and so easy to fill with the suet blocks, you can fit two blocks in side-by-side The birds seem to access the blocks easily even the robins.

We bought this together with nut and seed feeders from the same range because our previous, supposedly large-bird proof feeders had been damaged by Magpies and Jackdaws. The first day of use, a pair of Magpies spent about ten minutes trying to feed then gave up and haven't tried again since just feeding on the spills below. The Jackdaws haven't even bothered to try.

Just like the Nuttery seed and peanut feeders I have had in the past, this is also of excellent quality. It easily takes two fat blocks and I put in two differently flavoured ones so that the birds have a choice. The small birds love it and the larger birds, such as magpies, are unable to access it. I highly recommend this product and Vine House's next day delivery guarantee (if ordered in time) is so convenient when it comes to planning being at home to receive it.

Suet is arguably one of the best foods for a range of different garden birds, and especially different species of tit. Being high in fat and therefore providing energy which is also important to keep birds warm in the winter months, suet balls and suet blocks - also called fat balls and fat blocks - should be an addition to all garden bird feeding stations.
However, the benefits suet products provide to birds makes them equally attractive to larger species, some of which might be less welcome in gardens - for example Jackdaws, Rooks and Magpies. And even if you are happy to attract such species to your garden, you probably won’t want them to dominate feeders and therefore deter smaller birds from also feeding. Either way, the Nuttery Caged Suet Block and Fat Ball Feeder is a great solution, as only smaller birds will be able to access the fat balls or fat block.
Although Grey squirrels are less attracted to suet compared to peanuts and seed, none the less they will often try to eat it. Again, this caged suet ball and fat ball feeder will prevent squirrels from getting to the food.
