Many species of birds love peanut butter. It provides key nutrients, such as protein and fat and is a very high-calorie food, which makes it a perfect addition to Winter bird food selections.

However, peanut butter made for humans contains additives that are unhealthy for wild birds -- including added salt and refined sugar. As well as this, the excess oil in these varieties can damage birds’ plumage.
