The squirrel-resistant Nuttery Caged Peanut Feeder is made from heavy gauge steel to stop squirrels and larger birds such as jackdaws, magpies and rooks from accessing the peanuts. The principle by which this caged peanut feeder works, is that the spaces in the cage are wide enough to let small birds like blue tits in, but not wide enough to give squirrels and larger birds access. It’s a simple and tried-and-tested design, which works well and is very effective. Dimensions of the squirrel proof peanut feeder are 36cm high and 16cm wide.

Very good quality feeder - the small birds must feel safe. I have managed to put suet pellets with the peanuts and the sparrows keep flying in.

I'm very pleased with this. It seems robust. The birds are very happy with it. I thought it might take a few days for them to show interest. In fact there were both blue and great tits feeding less than 5 minutes after I first put it out!

Lovely to have nuts for the birds in the garden. Only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 ... is the need for a hook to attach the feeder. Had one, so all good - but would have appreciated knowing that beforehand. Cracking feeder though - birds getting to love it!

Feeder as described, solid construction but had to wire top cap down as squirrels quickly worked put that they could dislodge it, slide it to one side and reach peanuts inside. 2-1 to owner in the squirrel battle so far!

Seems well made and very easy to refill with a lid that just lifts straight off, no tools etc required. Not seen any large birds able to get to the nuts.

Took a while for the birds to get comfortable with it and found hanging clips awkward to settle but pleased now that several small birds regularly visit and at the moment a woodpecker is working hard at getting his beak to the nuts. So far bigger birds and squirrels are admitting defeat!

A robust well-made bird feeder. Its capacity is quite small but it is ideal for the smaller garden birds. You'll need something else for the bigger ones e.g. woodpeckers

Been up about 10 days. Took the birds a day or two to get used to it, but as well as the usual blue tits and great tits, it is now being visited by long-tailed tits. And the squirrel can’t get at the nuts! (He has tried!)

We had been inundated with squirrels for many years, which were eating the peanuts in the standard feeder which we used, at the rate of the contents of a feeder every few days. Since we have had the Nuttery Caged Feeder, which the squirrels can't get into, the peanuts have been eaten by the birds only (e.g. nuthatch and woodpecker as well as tits etc.) and the full feeder has lasted well over a week before it needs replenishing. This was definitely a useful buy!

This one is better engineered than the seed feeder; the lid fits, the chain was attached, the handles fit the hook more easily. So far the squirrels are confused.

Grey squirrels can be a real problem at bird feeders, as they often dominate which deters birds from feeding. They can also damage feeders in an attempt to get at the food, with this especially being the case with peanut feeders.
There are a number of squirrel-proof peanut feeders available, with this version from Nuttery being a simple but very effective design, which allows small birds in but keeps squirrels and larger birds out. The species of bird it will prevent are rooks, jackdaws and magpies – which despite their size and lack of natural suitability to do so, will cling precariously to a normal mesh peanut feeder in order to get to the food.
Using both normal bird feeders in your garden and those that prevent squirrels and larger birds, is a good idea as it allows all species to feed.
