Description

As the name suggests, the Upclose Window Feeder allows you to watch birds come right up to your window to feed. This bird window feeder attaches to the glass with suckers, and is suitable for seeds, seed mixes, suet pellets and live mealworms.

The clear bird feeder for windows is made from strong polycarbonate, with the canopy helping to keep the food dry - though there’s also drainage holes in the base in the event wind blows in any rain.

This type of bird feeder window will be used by species including Robin, Blue tit and Coal tit.

This was a gift for a friend who is moving to a flat and so will no longer have a garden. She was thrilled with it and so happy she can still feed the birds. It arrived quickly and I’m now considering buying one for myself.

Window bird feeders are the best way to get really close views of birds feeding. This type of window feeder is also relatively safe for birds, and actually reduces the risk of window strikes versus a feeder in a garden which is relatively close to a window. This is because birds will fly to the feeder on the glass and be ready to land when they get to it, whereas a feeder at a distance of, say, 5 metres from the glass, means a bird leaving the feeder and not recognising the window glass as a barrier, will have built up enough speed at the time of impact to potentially be killed.

Using a bird window feeder allows for close study of birds such as Robins, which will also find the rim of the feeder easy to stand on versus a straight perch on a hanging tube feeder. During the breeding season, Robins and other songbirds can usually be attracted by putting live mealworms into the feeder, which are then either eaten by the adult or taken back to the nest for the young birds.
