The Herring Gull and Lesser Black Backed Gull are both the same size, and both can be quite aggressive with semi hooked beaks. The Lesser Black Backed Gull is a summer visitor, wintering in Spain but back now at nesting sites, ready to terrorise small birds, or anyone eating a sandwich or an ice cream at the sea side.
