Our Compact Bird Ground Feeder Tray is a very useful addition to any garden bird feeding regime, and in particular when it’s used in addition to hanging feeders. The main reason for this is that ground feeding species of garden songbird, and notably species of Thrush and Blackbirds, can’t cling onto the perch of a hanging feeder so need food on a flat surface in order to feed. This small ground feeding tray is ideal, as the micromesh it is made of allows rainwater to drain through, and at the same time keep the food contained.
It's best to only feed husk-free seeds such as sunflower hearts or husk-free seed mixes from the ground bird feeder tray, as softbill such as softbill Robin, Dunnock and Blackbird can’t remove the husks from seeds. Suet pellets are also an ideal food for this type of bird ground feeder tray.

Some orders less than 1kg in weight will come by Royal Mail.
Orders for Live Mealworms are sent directly from our supplier via Royal Mail. They are dispatched the same day if orders are received by 12pm Mon-Thurs; no orders are dispatched on a Friday. Please allow four working days for orders to arrive.

We now deliver to all of mainland UK with no extra delivery charge. Please note that some postcode areas that are classed as Scottish Islands and Highlands may take 2-3 working days to arrive. For deliveries outside of these areas a £10 charge will be applied. I am very pleased with this ground feeder tray, which is sturdy and well-made. It is positioned on the wall underneath our seed feeder to catch the seeds that fall from the feeder when the birds are eating from it. Ground feeders can then come and polish off the fallen seeds. I also sprinkle suet pellets on the tray.

Only 5 stars as still new but so far the smaller birds are feeding happily and successfully blocking pigeons, squirrels and larger birds including greedy parakeets. I do wonder if we are feeding mice and rats but no way of telling.

Looks good - have only just started using it. The resident wood pigeon thinks it’s his dinner table! I have not yet managed to find a good place for the blackbirds and ground feeders to access it before all the food is gobbled up by the pigeon!

Great. I have one in the back garden and one in the front garden. The birds used them straight away. They are made with thick metal mesh not thin so they should last longer than the thin mesh dish on my bird feed station that got a hole in the bottom.

Allowing ground feeding species of bird such as Song thrush, Blackbird, Dunnock, Collared dove and Robin to easily get food is an important aspect of garden bird feeding. These species can’t, or can’t easily, feed from hanging tube feeders, so providing food for them in a ground feeder tray is the best option.
Bird tables serve a similar purpose, but they have a tendency to not be hygienic as those with a wooden feeding surface easily become contaminated. This can present health issues for birds, as diseases such as Salmonella can be transmitted from unclean surfaces.
