Ground Mix

With different species of garden birds favouring not just different foods but also different feeding methods, it’s important to consider both when choosing the right food product and feeder. Ground feeding species commonly include Blackbirds, Song thrushes, Robins, Dunnocks and Collared Doves, and our Ground Mix is designed to suit their bills and feeding habits. Whether placed on a ground tray or directly on the ground, the methods mimic natural feeding conditions and ensure ease of access.

There is a slightly increased risk of rodents when ground feeding, compared to hanging feeders, due to the accessibility of ground-level food. To reduce this, remove the tray at night and store the food away from ground-level access, then replace it in the morning when birds are active.

The carefully selected ingredients in our Ground Mix, including sunflower hearts for oil and protein, berry suet pellets for extra energy, along with chopped peanuts, naked oats and kibbled maize, ensure a balanced mix that attracts a wide range of ground-feeding birds, and is suitable for all seasons.
